George Syrovy — Founder / VP of Engineering
George Syrovy has over 25 plus years experience in systems development, product design
and testing, and engineering program management.
George Syrovy is a co-founder and VP of Engineering of AeroCopter, Inc. His responsibilies include research,
design and development of AeroCopter's new flying vehicle using Vertical Take-Off and Landing capabilities
(VTOL) with an advanced tiltrotor technology and VTOL UAV high speed compact rotary wing utilizing disruptive
technologies such as Canard Wing concept for compound helicopter. Prior to his involvement in AeroCopter, Inc., he served as an
Executive Consultant for YAS Ventures, LLC, and held management and design positions with several start-up
companies. Mr. Syrovy was mainly involved in the research and development of minicomputers, workstations and
mainframe CPUs, memory systems, RAS, AI applications and I/O and networking with companies such as
Control Data/IPL Systems, Amdahl, Magnuson, Prime Computer, and Apollo Computer. He has been involved as an
entrepreneur with start-up companies in the last twenty years.
His interest in aircraft dates back to his early engineering days when the computers he designed
became popular in the Flight Simulation industry. Currently, he is involved in VTOL architectures aiming
to overcome the speed limitation of the conventional helicopters caused by the “Retreating Blade Stall” phenomena. His
other research and development activities are in the area of VUAV stability enhancements and the
corresponding hardware/software/AI trade-offs as related to the autonomous flight of both heli-based
and nonheli-based VUAVs.
He has published variety of papers at International/National conferences such as AIAA, AHS and AUVSI.
He also holds US patent and has several patents pending.
He received a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., where he studied
computer architecture, communications and hardware/software design.
